Monitoring Microsoft BizTalk Server

This section explains what Nodinite monitors and how it translates technical data into actionable monitoring states. You can also leverage a wide range of remote commands—Actions—to swiftly resolve BizTalk Server issues. For a deeper dive into remote management, see Managing BizTalk Server.

Nodinite auto-discovers all your deployed BizTalk Server artifacts. Simply deploy new BizTalk Server applications, and Nodinite will automatically detect, monitor, and list them in your Monitor Views.

Monitoring Features

  • State Evaluation – Ensure BizTalk Server and all deployed artifacts maintain the intended run-time state

If Nodinite can't check the state of your BizTalk Server, chances are no one else can either

  • Metrics – Visualize real-time performance with graphs, widgets, and actionable alerts (e.g., throttling thresholds)
  • Statistics – Gain insights into which BizTalk Applications experience suspended messages over time
  • Health Checks – Keep your environment healthy and in sync, with features similar to the Microsoft Terminator support tool
  • Automatic DiscoveryNodinite agents use Microsoft SDKs to automatically discover and organize your BizTalk Server artifacts. Sharing or restricting access to any artifact is easy and secure.

BizTalk Resources
Overview of one BizTalk Server group, also available as a widget on the Dashboard

Each artifact (for example, one receive location) appears in Nodinite as a unique Resource. If you have 42 deployed receive locations, you'll see 42 Resources in Nodinite.

  • The Application name is based on the BizTalk Server Application name
  • All artifacts of a given type belong to an appropriate category

Nodinite groups monitoring capabilities for the BizTalk Server agent as Resources by Categories. Each Category is unique to its Monitoring Agent.

The BizTalk Monitoring Agent provides the following Categories:

Nodinite also enables Remote Actions on most resources via the Web Client or programmatically through the Web API.
To execute remote actions, ensure you meet the Prerequisites. Users must log in to Nodinite with Windows Credentials and be assigned a Monitor View with BizTalk Resources where Remote Actions are permitted. See Add or manage Monitor View for more details.

Tip

You can fine-tune user access (using Roles and Monitor Views) to specific BizTalk artifacts—by application, category, or even individual artifact.
